Miller trial postponed again

Legal proceedings for islander George Miller have once again been pushed to a later date.

Legal proceedings for islander George Miller have once again been pushed to a later date.

Miller, 24, is now scheduled to be in Kitsap County Superior Court on Tuesday, Dec. 4. He will stand two trials; one for rape and another for child molestation.

Miller has faced previous court dates starting in early 2012, but they have been repeatedly postponed, largely because his lawyers have pressed to have his mental competency evaluated.

In March, Miller was evaluated by staff at Western State Hospital and was found to have “impairment issues,” according to prosecutors. After further evaluation over the summer, he was found to be competent to stand trial.

Miller was arrested in February for allegedly raping a woman at a residence on High School Road.

He was also arrested for allegedly molesting a 7-year-old girl in the bathroom at the Safeway in June 2011.

While Miller has denied the rape allegation, he admitted to the incident with the young girl, according to police reports.
