Couple with Bainbridge ties marks first anniversary

Matt and Anna (Sperling) McAlvanah enjoyed celebrating their first wedding anniversary at the Sperling family lake cabin in Northern Idaho.

Matt and Anna (Sperling) McAlvanah enjoyed celebrating their first wedding anniversary at the Sperling family lake cabin in Northern Idaho. They were married a year ago on Aug. 16, 2014 in a lovely garden ceremony at the bride’s family home on Bainbridge Island, followed by dinner and dancing.

The bridal party included Anna’s maid of honor, Jaclyn Scholten, her brothers, Erik and Andrew Sperling, Matt’s siblings, Dan McAlvanah, best man, and sisters Molly and Nora McAlvanah.

Special friends, including Laura Gardiner of Bainbridge Island, were also part of the bridal party.

After the wedding festivities, the couple honeymooned in California Wine Country near Healdsburg.

Anna is the daughter of Dale and Carol Sperling of Bainbridge Island and Matt is the son of Florence and Bill McAlvanah of Montclair, New Jersey. The newlyweds live in Washington, D.C., where Anna is a legislative assistant in the United States Senate and Matt is Assistant U.S. Trade Representative for public and media affairs.
