BEAVERTON, Ore. – After a stellar showing at the “Battle in Seattle” event, hosted by Gymnastics East at the Washington State Convention Center, the Bainbridge Island Gymnastics Club girls traveled to Beaverton, Ore., to end their season and compete in the Rose City Challenge event.
The Level 3 girls put on another strong performance led by Sapphira Akins, who finished first all-around with an amazing score of 37.300.
Madison Teran was also victorious, earning a fourth-place finish all-around, and Mia Akins won a second-place event medal for bars.
Following the Level 3 girls, the Level 4 girls put on powerful performances of their own.
Sydney Johnson balanced her way to a 9.5 first-place score on beam, and tied for fourth place all-around.
Arianna Fiore was also poised on beam, finishing second with a score of 9.425, while Nicole Houmes swung her way to a third-place finish on bars.
Level 7 gymnast Siqi Talley, powered her way to a fourth-place finish on vault.
Level 8 gymnast Remi Rosencrans, vaulted, swung, balanced and tumbled her way to a fifth-place finish all-around, and veteran Sarah Rice, Level 9, also put on a strong performance earning her a third-place bronze medal all-around.
The girls are coached by Jason Balangue, Cheyne Clark and Ashley O’Malley.
