MARYSVILLE – The Bainbridge High School cross country team took a big team — 86 runners total — to the highly competitive Twilight Invitational Meet at the Cedarcrest Golf Course in Marysville on Saturday, Oct. 4 and had some outstanding performances including many new personal records.
The freshman girls JV team won fifth place out of 30 teams thanks to the new personal records by Adalynn Griesser (21:33, a PR by an amazing 1:03), Kiera Knoll (21:57, PR by :40), and Vega Piper (22:05, a PR by :50).
The junior-senior girls JV team was also fifth, led by Morgan Blevins, with Malena Delgado, Emma Fabert, and Sophie Carson (:05 PR) close behind.
Running in the near dark, the varsity girls finished 12th, led by Haylee Derrickson, Naomi von Ruden and Audrey Weaver, with the strong support of Jackie McVay, Emma Goidel and Ashley Alnwick.
On the boys side, all seven varsity runners set personal records, led by Keith Carlson’s 16:35 (:07 PR), Johan Griesser (17:27, :22 PR), Arthur Bacon (17:38, :15 PR), Ben Scott (17:42, :05 PR), Lucas Weyand (18:00, :07 PR), Jared Cordell (18:09, :27 PR) and Aidan Carlisle (18:21, :05 PR).
The freshman boys JV team was ninth out of 35, with PR performances by Cole Brundige (18:11, :02 PR) and Will Gleason (18:13, :20 PR), as well as Skyler Hallinan (PR by :19) and Keaton Blair (PR by :27).
The junior-senior boys JV team was led by Mateo Florez (18:30, :11 PR), Connor Evans (19:26, :15 PR), and David Kimmerlein (19:27, :08 PR).
In the huge Open Race event, Devon Reynolds ran the third fastest BIXC time of the day (17:37), while veteran Ryan Cox paced novice Aidan Berg, helping him set a PR by 1:28 (19:09).
On the girls side, veteran Rachel Perry paced novice Shaila Perry to a 1:47 PR (24:34), while junior Robin Hilderman beat her previous best time by 1:26.
