Kitsap Transit to host community meeting on Bainbridge

New details to be shared on ballot proposal for Cross-Sound Fast Ferry.

Islanders are invited to attend the next Kitsap Transit community meeting this weekend.

The meetings are held every quarter, and topics to be discussed this Saturday include the potential for half-hour ferry rides to downtown Seattle from the Kitsap Peninsula; the new North Viking Park & Ride and Transit Center (slated to open in December); and changes to area bus routes, including the No. 32, No. 33, No. 41, No. 43, No. 44, No. 90 and No. 92 buses.

Kitsap Transit executive director John Clauson will also share new details about the Cross-Sound Fast Ferry service, which will be put before voters on the Nov. 8 ballot. Questions and comments will also be fielded.

Meetings will be held Saturday, Sept. 17 at:

• 9 a.m. in Bremerton, at the Harborside Building, second floor (60 Washington Ave.);

• 11:30 a.m. on Bainbridge Island, in the Bainbridge Public Library conference room (1270 Madison Ave. North); and

• 3 p.m. in Kingston, at Village Green Community Center, Blue Heron Room (26159 Dulay Road NE).

Additional third quarter meetings will take place Saturday, Sept. 24 at:

• 9:30 a.m. at Poulsbo City Hall, council chambers (200 NE Moe St.);

• 11:30 a.m. at Silverdale Beach Hotel, West Bay Room (3073 NW Bucklin Hill Road); and

• 3 p.m. at Port Orchard City Hall, council chambers (216 Prospect St.).
