Three Spartan wrestlers head to state

Three Spartan wrestlers claimed wins at the recent regional tournament at Chief Sealth High School and earned spots at the 2016 Mat Classic XXVIII State Wrestling Tournament in Tacoma Friday.

SEATTLE – Three Spartan wrestlers claimed wins at the recent regional tournament at Chief Sealth High School and earned spots at the 2016 Mat Classic XXVIII State Wrestling Tournament in Tacoma Friday.

Both Spartan co-captains claimed first-place spots in their respective brackets.

Aaron Jumpa (160-pounds) earned a 3-2 win over Roosevelt’s Conrad Austin and Hague Bush pinned Garfield’s William Hule in 3:23 to advance to state.

Rachel Longridge took third place overall in the 100-pound division.

Oleg Maguire (126-pounds) finished fifth and will travel to Tacoma as an alternate.

The Bainbridge High varsity squad finished seventh overall at the regional contest.
