Rory Wilson has been on quite a journey, but now he will bring it all back home.
Wilson, a former math teacher at Bainbridge High School, recently completed a record 44-day trip from San Diego to Hawaii all alone in his 21-foot vessel, KROS. He rowed most of the way, but when he found favorable winds, he used kites to help pull the small boat along.
Now he will return to the high school to speak about his epic journey at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11 in the commons at BHS.
Wilson will discuss the many aspects of his trip including the math and science involved to make it a success.
But he didn’t do it all alone. Wilson will talk about the variety work students put into the project as well. Students worked on projects surrounding KROS including Wilson’s dietary needs, and the solar panels and kites he used along the way.
While it is a free event, donations will be accepted for the Bainbridge Schools Foundation.
