Bainbridge Island police said Wednesday the Seattle man arrested by Bainbridge officers earlier this week and charged with second-degree burglary in Kitsap County District Court was on the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office’s “Most Wanted” list.

Jamie Woodward Weindl was arrested by Bainbridge police on an outstanding warrant for residential burglary just after 4:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 4.

Bainbridge police said Weindl, a former Bainbridge Island resident, was booked into Kitsap County Jail on charges of vehicle prowl, theft and mail theft.

Officers were called to Falk Road and Manitou Beach after receiving several calls about a suspicious man who was talking to himself and jumping into traffic.

Police were unable to find the man, but a short time later, police were called to the 9400 block of Ferncliff Avenue after someone reported a man who ran through the caller’s yard and was talking to himself.

The description of the running man matched the earlier call, but officers were again unable to locate the man.

Two Bainbridge officers were then dispatched to the 9000 block of Ferncliff Avenue after receiving another report of a suspicious person.

Once there, police found a man who matched the description from the previous calls and officers recognized the man, later identified as Weindl, from past arrests for residential burglaries on Bainbridge.

Officers were also aware that Weindl was wanted on a $10,000 felony warrant for residential burglary on the Kitsap County Sheriff’s “Most Wanted” website.

Police said Weindl was taken into custody without incident.

Further investigation by Bainbridge police revealed that Weindl had allegedly entered a vehicle and removed several items and had also taken mail from a mailbox.

The stolen items and mail were recovered by police.
