The body of a missing man was discovered in Blakely Harbor off Bainbridge Island Sunday afternoon.
“They believe it is the body of the diver that went missing yesterday,” said Fire Marshal Luke Carpenter.
A 48-year-old man was reported missing off of Blakely Rock Saturday, July 27 after he was 10 minutes overdue to surface.
A recreational diver located the body Sunday afternoon, approximately 70 feet underwater, and marked it with a buoy. The diver called 911 and the Bainbridge Island Fire Department and Bainbridge Island Police Department were dispatched to Blakely Harbor.
An island police boat remained on-scene while a boat from the Seattle Police Department traveled to the island to handle the recovery.
The body will likely be transported to the coroner in Port Orchard once it is recovered, Carpenter said.
