Gymnastics club girls have big finish at home

The Bainbridge Island Gymnastics Club girls team took top honors as the club hosted its only home meet of the season on Jan. 20 at Woodward Middle School.

The Bainbridge Island Gymnastics Club girls team took top honors as the club hosted its only home meet of the season on Jan. 20 at Woodward Middle School.

Level 9 competitors Sarah Rice and Chloe Seferos posted scores of 30.675 and 30.30, finishing first and second, respectively.

Level 8 teammates Miller Shor and Marielle Summers finished with scores of 31.8 and 31.025, also finishing first and second, respectively.

In a pre-competition ceremony, the team honored Bainbridge High senior Marielle Summers, who was competing in her final Bainbridge home meet.

The Level 7 girls took first place in the team competition with a team score 101.325, outpacing Zero Gravity Athletics by less than two points.

The Level 7 team included Remi Rosencrans (all-around score 32.725, third overall and first on bars); Morgan Dierickx (32.675, fourth overall); Mia Bruzzo (32.10, fifth overall); and Jianna Kaufman (31.875, sixth overall).

The Level 6 girls also placed first in the team competition.

Individually, SiQi Talley finished first in the 11-12 age category with a score of 33.30 followed by a second-place finish from teammate Maria Gallivan with a score of 32.85 and Keagan Daniels in fourth with a total of 28.2.

Both Sophia Schuler (13 & Up) and Kati Cooper (8-10) finished second in their age categories with scores of 31.2 and 33.55.

The Level 5 girls finished first in the team competition as well, paced by first-place individual finishes in their age groups by Sydney Johnson (34.20) and Cate Shelton-Jenck (33.0), second-place finishes by Emma Chee (32.50) and Nicole Houmes (32.30), and a third-place finish by Alyssa Rasmussen (31.80). Taylor Clyde finished fifth (30.40) and Anna Jacobi sixth (28.90).

The Level 4’s placed second in the team competition.

Ariana Fiore (33.75) placed first overall in the 9-year-old age bracket followed by Alicia Kiefler at second place with a 33.55.

Hailey-Jo Woods (age 10) and Mia Akins (age 8) both placed second in their age brackets with scores of 34.45 and 31.950 respectively, while Sapphira Akins (age 11) placed third and Holley Beermann (age 6-7) placed fourth with scores of 32.65 and 23.20.
