Thank you for the coverage and photo with reference to the crowd in attendance at the Inslee-Watkins debate.
We are in an era of increasing public bullying and uncivilized behavior. Many people are frightened of the future and there are varying ways of coping.
It helps to anticipate boldy aggressive public behavior and to have a plan for managing the situation firmly. This debate was important to citizens who took the time to attend.
Reportedly challenger James Watkins did not intervene and ask his supporters to be courteous.
One plan is to announce at the beginning of a debate the rules that will be enforced when audience members interrupt and taunt the speakers. Second, the enforcement rules need to be effectively executed.
One of the things that our family appreciates about people on Bainbridge Island is the level of thoughtful discourse and courtesy.
