Tuesday, Feb. 5

6:03 p.m. A resident on Springwood Avenue told police that all but one of his neighborhood’s mailboxes were opened and mail was taken.

Wednesday, Feb. 6

6:45 p.m. A pedestrian walked in front of a car on Winslow Way and the car struck the walker’s elbow. The pedestrian appeared intoxicated. He insisted he was unhurt and walked away.

Thursday, Feb. 7

8:31 a.m. Mail was stolen from a mailbox on Moran Road. A collector coin was stolen that the resident had purchased off eBay.

9:10 a.m. A resident on Country Club Road said someone broke light fixtures at the end of his driveway. The lights were destroyed and tossed into the resident’s front yard.

12:45 p.m. A woman living on Roe Road reported that a man with an Indian accent identifying himself as “Jack William” called her and said that her Microsoft computer was in a critical state. He said he needed her passwords to take remote control of the computer to fix the problems. The woman gave the man her passwords. He then tried to sell her a program to prevent it from happening again. She asked him to call back later after she discussed it with her husband. The woman was uncomfortable and reported the call to police. Police said it was “phone phishing,” a scam intended to obtain personal information. She was told not to use her computer and take it to a professional to remove whatever spyware the man placed on it.
