Rough Riders cruise past BHS in girls basketball

The Bainbridge High varsity girls basketball team suffered a lopsided loss at home against the visitors from Roosevelt High.

BAINBRIDGE – The Bainbridge High varsity girls basketball team suffered a lopsided loss at home Wednesday, Dec. 9 against the visitors from Roosevelt High.

The final score was 65-26 Roosevelt.

The Spartans were outscored every quarter, though admittedly closed the gap as the game went on: 11-5, 23-7, 17-8, 14-6.

Perennial scoring machine Taylor Tye led the island squad offensively with eight points.

Carly Lant managed five and Katie Usellis chipped in three.

The loss at home brought the BHS overall season record to 2-1, earning them the fourth spot in the Metro Mountain Division rankings.

The Spartans traveled to play against Garfield Friday, Dec. 11 before returning home to host Holy Names Academy Wednesday, Dec. 16.
