To the editor:

As co-chairs of Kitsap Humane Society’s Annual Animal Krackers Gala Event, we want to thank the 430 enthusiastic animal lovers and supporters who attended our gala auction event on Oct. 1 at the Suquamish Casino, and contributed in excess of $330,000 to support our animal welfare mission. We smashed both attendance and fundraising records for this event.

Net proceeds from this event help KHS rescue and adopt out in excess of 5,000 animals per year; help support our comprehensive veterinary and behavioral rehabilitation services that enables us to have a “save rate” of nearly 96 percent of the animals entering our shelter; and help us transfer in and rescue the lives of nearly 2,000 animals per year who otherwise would face euthanasia in other shelters.
