After obvious difficulty during the field sobriety test, a preliminary breathalyzer test came in with a reading of .104.
The driver was arrested for driving under the influence and had his bail set at $5,000 due to a lack of prior infractions.
TUESDAY, MARCH 15
1:56 a.m. A 36-year-old Bainbridge Island man driving a 1999 black Toyota Tacoma was arrested for driving under the influence.
Police noticed the truck driving 80 mph in a 50 mph zone on Highway 305 near Reitan Road NE, swerving over the center and fog lines.
The driver’s speech was slurred and he attempted to bargain his way out of the stop. The driver refused to participate in a sobriety test and police identified the scent of alcoholic beverage about him.
The man was arrested, and subsequently blew a .168 BAC. He was assigned no bail due to previous infractions.
