The early morning fire on March 11 that destroyed a home on Miller Road has been deemed accidental.

Bainbridge Island Fire Department Assistant Chief Luke Carpenter said Thursday that investigators have determined the fire was accidental. Carpenter, who is also fire marshal for Bainbridge Island, said the blaze apparently originated near a pellet stove.

No one was hurt in the fire, which was reported at 4:10 a.m. Wednesday. Authorities said the homeowner was awakened by a pet cat, and escaped before the manufactured home was consumed by flames. He was treated for minor smoke inhalation by paramedics at the scene, Carpenter said.

Twenty firefighters from the Bainbridge Island Fire Department, Poulsbo Fire Department and North Kitsap Fire & Rescue fought the fire.

The home, located at 12300 Miller Road, was a total loss.
