Button, that is.

The city of Bainbridge Island has launched a design contest for the buttons that will be worn by volunteers on Bainbridge leading up to the second annual Bainbridge Island Volunteer Celebration.

The event, hosted by the Bainbridge Island Community Foundation and the city, will be held on Thursday, April 16, in the commons at Bainbridge High School.

Like last year, in the days leading up to the celebration, volunteers across Bainbridge will be wearing a button as a visual display of the power and importance of volunteers in community.

Organizers of the event are asking the community for help in designing the volunteer button. The theme for the button design will echo the theme for this year’s event: “Celebrating a Lifetime of Service.”

Button designs should be focused on the theme and in some way celebrate Bainbridge Island’s volunteers of all ages. Designs can be submitted in any format, but should be appropriate for a 2 1/2-inch button.

Button designs must be submitted by midnight Sunday, March 15, via email to Kellie Stickney at kstickney@bainbridgewa.gov.

The winning design will be featured on the button, the city website and in a press release, and will receive special recognition from Mayor Anne Blair.

Five finalists will also receive recognition at the event on April 16.
