Bainbridge Police reported the following incidents:
Jan. 13
11:16 a.m. Resident came into the police station to report someone had stole a 20 percent off Macy’s coupon from her mailbox.
The woman said that she had contacted Macy’s who urged her to get a police case number to authorize them to send her another mailer with the coupon inside.
The woman said the day she received the mailer she was watching the mail carrier and did not notice anything unusual when the mail was delivered.
11:11 a.m. Female resident called to report receiving repeated, unwanted phone calls from a male 6-7 times per week over the last three weeks.
The man continues to ask for personal information including her social security number, middle name and address.She has asked him to say who he works for and why he needs the information. She has repeatedly hung up on him.
He has threatened that he will get the information one way or another. She said she has not outstanding legal issues and very good credit. She doesn’t believe it is a bill collector or a credit agency.
12:26 p.m. A Bainbridge resident called the police after receiving a phone call from a male requesting money to be sent to Mexico to bail the residents grandson out of jail.
The Bainbridge man said that he received the call around 8:00 a.m. from a man who identified himself as Javier Pautoja Mercado, who said he needed $2,000 to get his grandson who was in an accident. He gave a mailing address in Mexico City, Mexico. The resident called his grandsons father in Tacoma and was informed that his grandson was working at the family business, and not in Mexico.
10:20p.m. Bainbridge units were dispatched to a reported assault at Point White Drive.
The victim was reportedly standing by in her vehicle near the theatre in Lynwood Center.
The victim works for an in-home caregiver. She was exiting the residence and walking to her car when she observed a man walking southbound on the roadway. He was walking at about the same pace as her and when he approached he reached out with both hands. She became frightened, screamed and kicked at him. She got into her car and started honking the horn loudly and she last saw him running away from her on the road.
She describes the man as wearing all black clothing, black shoes, pants and a coat with a hood. She could not describe his face.
The officers were unable to locate the man.
Case closed, leads exhausted.
Jan. 14
2:35 p.m. Officer dispatched to Ward Ave for a possible stalker.
Owner of the residence and her boyfriend said they saw a white Toyota Camry had passed by the residence and the owner noticed that the female was an ex-girlfriend.
The couple had broken up months prior, but the ex-girlfriend had come to the residence and entered without permission before. Other issues have occurred including slashed tires and possible stalking. The male has tried to obtain a restraining order, but hasn’t found success.
The residents said the car drove back and forth slowly several times.
Information kept on file in case another situation occurs in the future.
