At Wilkes Elementary School this fall, a favorite activity for students and staff is to watch the construction of the new school. We’ve already observed an evolution from the “big dig” to the raising of the walls for the gym and cafeteria. We’re  looking forward to watching the transformation to a new space we can call ours.

As that work proceeds up on the hill, we continue the work of building minds in the campus below. A vibrant school community also requires skills, tools and materials.

Increasingly we have asked leaders of the Bainbridge Schools Foundation to help us provide these essential components of a healthy educational program.

They have supported staff development workshops that help keep us skilled with the best practices in education. We have looked to them to fund teaching positions lost in the wake of the state budget woes, helping keep class size manageable.

Their generous classroom enrichment grants have provided teachers with the materials to enhance and integrate their curriculum using resources not otherwise affordable.

We’d like to thank BSF and all who have contributed for helping us build a solid education for the students of Wilkes.
