Mahlum Architects will lead the design of the new Bainbridge High School 100 Building.
Two architect firms submitted “statements of qualifications” for the overhaul project, which were reviewed by a steering committee comprised of school district staff, board members and community volunteers. The steering committee voted unanimously to hire Mahlum.
Mahlum has a successful history working with the Bainbridge Island School District, having spearheaded the replacement of the BHS 200 Building and Captain Charles Wilkes Elementary School.
“Their award-winning designs, familiarity with the schools in the district, cost-consciousness and depth and breadth of school theater experience make them an obvious choice to work on the BHS 100 Building replacement,” said Capital Projects Director Tamela Van Winkle.
The decision is pending approval at the Nov. 10 school board meeting.
