The Rev. Lori J. Hoyum, pastor of Port Madison Lutheran Church (NALC) on Bainbridge Island, Washington, died Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 26, 2016. She was born on Feb. 13, 1959, and was raised in Fertile, Minnesota. She received a bachelor’s degree from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota, and a Master of Divinity degree from Luther Northwestern Theological Seminary, Saint Paul, Minnesota.

She also served parishes in Kasson, Minnesota and Gig Harbor, Washington, prior to being called to Port Madison Lutheran in 1995 –– a position she held until her death.

She is survived by her husband, the Rev. Ronald A. Hoyum; her son, John Hoyum; her daughter, Gretchen Hoyum; her step-daughter, Erica Huber; her parents, Erman Ueland and Betty Ueland; her sister and brother-in-law, Kim Kveno and Harry Kveno; and her brother and sister-in-law, Jon Ueland and Kathy Ueland. Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visitation from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 6, 2016, at Cook Family Funeral Home.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, 2016 at Silverdale Lutheran Church in Silverdale, Washington, 11701 Ridge Point Dr. NW., Silverdale. (Call 360-692-9263 with questions.)

For family and friends living in Minnesota there will be a funeral service at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 11, 2016 at Concordia Lutheran Church in Fertile, Minnesota. Interment will take place in Fertile, Minnesota.
