Truman G. Black
November 2, 1930 – February 7, 2011
Truman G. Black, 80, born November 2nd, 1930 in Bremerton WA, passed away February 7th, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family who loved him.
Truman grew up on the family homestead overlooking Rich Passage in Crystal Springs where his love of family was cultivated as he was blessed with many wonderful aunts, uncles and cousins. He graduated from Bainbridge High School in 1949 and honorably served in the US Army from August 1949 to December 1952. His engineering career with Boeing Airplane Company spanned 30 years before he retired and soon thereafter made his home in Renton, once again to be near his children.
Like family, Truman’s love of golf and bowling never waivered and the memories made were always cherished. When he wasn’t bowling or the weather didn’t suit his golf game, Truman would trade his clubs for the remote and relax in his favorite chair to watch the pros ply their trade. Saturday’s however, were all about college ball… most importantly his beloved Huskies.
He was preceded in death by his parents Amos & Mary (Monroe) Black and his sister Janet (Kelley-Black) Woll. He is survived by his children James & Shelly (Black) O’Toole, Douglas & Kristin Black, Philip & Patricia Black and Gene & Ronda (Black) Cullup, six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
A memorial Service was held at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Renton, WA on February 11th, 2011. Condolences can be accepted at home.comcast.net/~trumanblack/site.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Renton Community Foundation / VMC, P.O. Box 820 Renton, WA 98057.
