Natalie Mary Cosman (nee Steel) passed away peacefully on March 8, 2015 at the age of 94 at Madrona House.
Natalie was born on Feb. 5, 1921 in Slough, England. After working as a nurse during World War II, Natalie trained as a physiotherapist and worked part time whilst bringing up her family.
She lived most of her life in England before she and her husband, Gerald moved to Bainbridge Island in 2004 to be closer to one of their sons and grandson.
Despite their advanced ages and the change in culture, they settled well into the Bainbridge community and enjoyed the relaxed and friendly environment. Her beloved husband of 56 years, Gerald, died in 2008 at 93 but Natalie continued to live independently until late in 2014, when fading eyesight and other conditions necessitated a move to Madrona House.
Natalie’s family would like to thank the staff at Madrona House and other carers who supported her earlier for their exceptional dedication and kindness.
Natalie is survived by her two sons, Michael, of Wellington, New Zealand, and David and grandson, Ian, of Bainbridge Island, and her sister, Liza Steel, of Cambridge, England.
A memorial service to celebrate Natalie’s life will be held at Cook Family Funeral Home at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 8. No flowers, please. Sign the online guest book for the family at www.cookfamilyfuneralhome.com.
