Helen Rosina Crowder, age 90, of Keyport died May 13 at Wyatt House in Winslow on Bainbridge Island, where she had lived for the last year.
She was born in Seattle, Dec. 17, 1913, to George and Rosina Cook. She was the fifth of the Cooks’ seven children.
She graduated from Ballard High School and several years later married Martin L. Crowder; they were together 60 years until Martin’s death in May 1997.
They lived in West Seattle until Martin’s retirement in 1972, and then moved to their new home at Keyport on Liberty Bay.
She had many friends and enjoyed travel, touring Europe several times. She also was a talented watercolor artist and an avid gardener.
She and Martin enjoyed spending part of each winter in either Southern California or Mexico, where Helen did a lot of painting.
She is survived by son Martin and his wife Diane, Bainbridge Island; sister June Samuelson, Vashon Island; grandchildren Christina (Todd) Flynn, Edmonds, Lisa (Christian) Lindberg, Edmonds, and Amy Crowder (fiance, Todd Sprangers), Seattle; great-grandchildren Christopher and Dana Flynn and Annika Lindberg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
