Island resident Marshall H. Lowe, age 87, died Jan. 17 at Island Health and Rehabilitation on Bainbridge Island.
He was born July 7, 1915 in Seattle, the son of Mina and James Lowe, a streetcar operator until the line was discontinued.
He spent his entire work career in the employ of Sears where he worked as a warehouse foreman, taking time out when he joined the Army during World War II.
He and his wife Irma lived in Seattle and later settled on Bainbridge Island, where he remained after Irma died in 1982.
He became a fixture at Doogal’s, was a participant in the morning coffee group at Town and Country and often rode the ferry to town.
He used his outgoing personality to introduce himself to widow Lucille Dobrin at the Cascade room in Seattle‚ Bon Marche. He and Lucille were married in 1984 and were happy until her death in 1994.
He enjoyed television sports and reading, but most of all the camaraderie with family and friends.
He is survived by two step-daughters, Suellen Roche, Seattle; Helen Volsky, Yakima; two nephews James Newcomer, Redmond, Ore.; Douglas Newcomer, San Diego, Calif.; one grand-nephew, James Newcomer, Jr., Redmond, Ore.; two grand-nieces; six step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Jan. 25 at Kass Funeral Home. A reception will follow at Islander Mobile Home Park on Madrona Lane.
