Arneila Corrine Hutto, age 90, of Poulsbo, died March 17, 2002 at Harrison Hospital in Silverdale.
She was born June 11, 1911 in Watertown, N.Y. to Frank and Cora Ann (Mousaw) Carpenter.
She received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from New York University.
She enjoyed a long and distinguished career in education as a teacher and elementary school principal.
Following her retirement from North Merrick School District in Long Island, N.Y. in 1973, she moved to California to be near her daughter.
She then indulged a lifelong interest in dance. She became a member of a senior dance group Talk of the Town, which opened at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics.
She is survived by daughter Garnet Logan; grandson Christopher Acuna; great-grandchildren Kailey and Derek of Bainbridge Island; granddaughter Trang Luong and son Derek of San Gabriel, Calif. She is also survived by her brother, Rollin Carpenter of Wantaugh, N.Y.
Memorial services will be held at 12 p.m. March 23 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church.
