The Coast Guard has called off its search for a diver who went missing this weekend on an outing near Blake Island.
Authorities started searching Sunday for a diver who went missing near Blake Island just south of Bainbridge Island.
Gerard Martin Hall, 59, of Central Kitsap was spearfishing with another man approximately 40 feet off the southern shore of Blake Island.
As the two divers were surfacing, Hall called to his friend and said he was in need of help. Hall soon went under the surface of the water.
The Coast Guard sent two 25-foot response boat crews and a 45-foot response boat crew from Station Seattle, an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Air Station Port Angeles and the Coast Guard Cutter Wahoo to the scene to conduct a search.
Underwater search volunteers, Port Orchard Police, South Kitsap Fire & Rescue and a boat from the Seattle Fire Department with medics onboard were also dispatched to the scene.
The search was called off at 6 p.m. Sunday due to unfavorable weather conditions and visibility.
