George Ernest Frasier
December 15, 1942 – February 7, 2016
Longtime resident of Bainbridge Island, George Ernest Frasier, loving husband, devoted father, esteemed colleague, and stalwart friend, passed away on Feb. 7, 2016 in Palm Desert, California. He was 73.
George was born in Hooper, Colorado on Dec. 15, 1942 to Sarah Mae (Siemering) and Ernest Leroy Frasier. He lived in Alamosa County until his family moved to Washington State in 1952. He graduated from Renton High School in 1960.
George met his wife Lynn (Bergman) while they were undergraduates at the University of Washington, and they were married in 1964 in Seattle. After graduating in 1965 with a degree in economics, George attended Stanford Law School where he was a member of the Stanford Law Review. Upon graduation in 1968 he won the Stanford Law Review Prize and became a member of the Order of the Coif.
George and Lynn returned to Seattle later that year and George joined the law firm Riddell Williams. There he practiced tax law and labor law and then went on to found the firm’s bankruptcy and creditors’ rights practice. He served as chair of that practice group for many years.
George loved spending time with his wife, Lynn, and their daughters, Elise and Corrie, and together they spent many years downhill skiing across the Pacific Northwest, sailing the Puget Sound, camping in the Olympics and Eastern Washington, traveling across the United States and internationally, and golfing wherever and whenever he could. George enjoyed the company of his many close friends, both in conversation around the family dinner table and on the golf course. Having grown up in modest circumstances, his fierce defense of the underdog and his criticism of abuses of political power grew more passionate over time.
George is survived by his wife of 52 years, Lynn; his daughters Elise (Christopher Timura) of Arlington, Virginia; and Corrie (Terence Brown) of Seattle; four grandchildren; his brother, Lee Frasier of Renton, Washington; and many wonderful nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his sister, Christine Chiles of Hooper, Colorado; and brother, Clair Frasier of Renton.
A celebration of his life will be at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, May 28 at the Wing Point Golf and Country Club on Bainbridge Island. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Democratic National Committee.
