Robert Ware Green

Island resident Robert Ware Green, born July 12, 1923, died April 5 in Mukilteo. He was 79.

He led a career as a bus driver for the Seattle transit system.

On Bainbridge, where he lived for many years, he was a recognizable figure about town, known for wearing a baseball cap with a large crow beak on the front.

He is survived by two daughters, Nancy Stallings of Mill Creek and Valerie Green of St. Paul, Minn.; three sons, William Green and Peter Green, both of Whidbey Island, and Gary Green of Issaquah; and four grandchildren.

He is also survived by two brothers, Galen Green of Manomet and Winslow Green of Lexington, Mass.; five sisters — Dorothy Darling of Milwaukee, Wis., Helen Fawler of Dubury, Mass., Phyllis Baker and Ariel Tose, both of Hingham, Mass., and Cynthia Platt of Denville, N.J. — and a large extended family.

Services will be held 2 p.m. April 12 at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church. Burial will be at Auburn Cemetery in Boston, Mass.
