Islander Brian Michael Betz, age 18, died July 3 on Bainbridge.

He was born on Aug. 2, 1983 in Mountain View, Calif. to Gail and Scott Betz.

He attended Bainbridge Island High School and was pursuing further education at Seattle Central.

He was a championship gymnast, an accomplished artist, a soccer and skateboard enthusiast and a conscientious environmentalist.

He is survived by his parents, Gail and Scott, his sister Mallory and his brother Collin of Bainbridge Island.

Services will be held 11 a.m. July 10 at St. Cecilia Catholic Chruch, with a reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Catholic Relief Services.
