Bainbridge island resident Robert Badger Ainsworth, age 99, died Feb. 23.

He was born Dec. 13, 1902 in Pittsburgh, Penn. to George and Frances (Badger) Ainsworth. He graduated from the high school in Turtle Creek, Penn. in 1920. In 1934, he married Louise Witzeman.

He led a 45-year career as a draftsman for Westinhouse Air Brake, retiring in 1967. His hobbies were painting and playing the violin.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 1997. He is survived by son Robert G. Ainsworth of Madison, Wisc. and daughter Patricia Ainsworth Tarner of Poulsbo; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Feb. 27 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church. A reception will follow the service.
