Victoria Louise Somers, age 9, died in the early morning hours Dec. 8 at Children’s Hospital in Seattle.

She was a fourth grader at the Island School on Bainbridge Island.

Math was her favorite subject. She also enjoyed creative writing and reading the “Harry Potter” stories.

As an enthusiastic Camp Fire girl, she enjoyed service projects.

She also built great forts in the woods behind her school and around her home.

Her love of animals included herons and llamas and her two dogs, Muffy and Brandy.

She is survived by her parents Sue and Alan Somers; her grandparents Robert and Mary Johnson; her aunt and uncle Jim and Jan Van Fredenberg; and her cousins John, Kathy, Jerry and Jeff.

A memorial service was held at Dec. 13 at Rolling Bay Presbyterian Church.
