Anna Kathryn Wolfer, age 97, died Sept. 25 at Martha and Mary Health Care Center in Poulsbo.
She was born Sept. 28, 1904 in Augusta, Mont. to Charles Butler and Alice Fletcher (Gilmour) Taylor. After graduating from high school in 1992, she attended the University of Washington, and later graduated from Bellingham Normal (Western Washington University).
On Dec. 25, 1927, she married Wayne Wolfer in Kirkland. She was a teacher at the Hoh and Brinnon, where she taught all grades. She lived in Port Townsend before moving to Bainbridge, where she resided for 22 years.
She is survived by son Richard Wolfer of Shelton; daughter Phyllis Kupka of Bainbridge; granddaughter Diana Ferrier and two great-grandchildren. Her husband preceded her in death in 1976.
At the family’s request, no services will be held. Remembrances may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements were under the direction of Stone Chapel at Cherry Grove in Poulsbo.
