Heinz Walter Billing, age 86

Long-time Bainbridge Island resident Heinz Walter Billing died on June 20. He was 86.

Walt was born on July 18, 1923, in Gaumnitz, Germany to Walter Max Billing and Frieda Martha Knauth.

He immigrated to the United States through Ellis Island in 1926 at the age of 3. He was a 1942 graduate of Queen Anne School, in Seattle and worked in Seattle as an electrician until his retirement.

He enjoyed watching the water from the cabin he built in 1955 on the Sandpit.

Walt is survived by his three children Christine (Marv) Campion of Bainbridge Island, Roy (Donna) Billing of Mountlake Terrace and Peggy (Jim) Bennett of Pampa, Texas; eight grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
