Dr. Sherwood F. Young

Dr. Sherwood F. Young passed away in Rochester, Minnesota on Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2016. He was the son of the late Dr. H. Herman and Virginia S. Young of Rochester and Dayton, Ohio.
“Woody” was born on April 10, 1939, in Rochester and was a member and president of the Rochester High School class of 1957. He graduated from Princeton University, Princeton, New Jersey, in 1961 and Northwestern University Medical School, Evanston, Illinois.
After completing his residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, he served four years in the U.S. Army and moved to Bainbridge Island, Washington, to head up the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle. He later opened his own private practice, Green Mountain Rehabilitation in Bremerton, Washington.
Woody leaves his sons Chris, his wife Nancy (Fox) and their son Colton of Washington, D.C.; Drew, his wife Ali (Mumma) and her daughters Aubrey and Madie of Missoula, Montana; Jeremy of Seattle and his mother Mary Adams, Woody’s former wife; sisters Barbara Young of Rochester, Linda Talbot of Ipswich, Massachusetts; his brother Jim and his wife Kaye (Andrist) of Minnetonka, Minnesota; nieces Beth Gasinowski, Alison Talbot; and nephews Craig Talbot, Justin and Alex Young. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Beverly (Swenson) Young.
