Swim Club running swift

The Bainbridge Island Diving Club competed in two away meets in February, coming home with a number of medals and awards. The first meet was in Portland, Ore., competing against the divers from the Tualatin Hills Diving Club. In the Novice division, Bridget Butler scored 176.30 with seven dives for first place in the 15-and- under girls age group.

In girls 13 and under, Ali Watson placed third on 1-meter with a score of 159.15 for seven dives and placed third on 3-meter with a score of 161.15 for seven dives on 3-meter.

In the girls 14-15 age group, Shelby Mann placed third on 1-meter with a score of 233.55 for nine dives and third on 3-meter with a score of 242.75 for nine dives. Also, Stacia Bibler placed second on 1-meter with a score of 235.10 for nine dives and second on 3-meter with a score of 244.60 for nine dives.

In the girls 16-18 1 meter, Caitlin McNulty placed fifth on 1-meter with a score of 240.65 for 10 dives and placed fifth again on 3-meter with a score of 250.90. Stephanie Whalen placed 2nd with a score of 315.10 for 10 dives on 1-meter and placed first on 3-meter with a score of 368.35 for 10 dives.

In the 16-18 Boys age group, Olaf Olson won second place with a score of 404.90 for 11 dives on 3-meter springboard, and first place with a score of 432.60 for 11 dives on 1-meter springboard.

Bainbridge next had two entries in the British Columbia Canadian Provincial Championships in Vancouver. Mann placed 8th on 3-meter with a score of 267.3 with 10 dives and ninth on 1-meter with a score of 248.15 with 10 dives.

Whalen earned a bronze medal for third place in the 3-meter event with a score of 366.70 for 10 dives and earned a gold medal in the 1- meter event with a score of 393.15 for 10 dives.

The club hosts the Tualatin Hills Dive Club at Nakata Pool March 12. Events start at 8:30 a.m., and spectators are welcome.
