The Bainbridge Island Police Department will take prescription medications for disposal this Saturday as part of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration’s annual Drug Take-Back Day.

The collection event is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 30 at the police station, 625 Winslow Way East.

Bainbridge is one of 89 collection sites in Washington for the drug take-back initiative.

“It’s important to dispose of unwanted medication in the safest, most environmentally responsible way and the Bainbridge Island Police Department is happy to provide that mechanism for our citizens,” said Police Chief Matthew Hamner.

Both controlled and non-controlled prescription substances including over the counter substances will be accepted.

Residents may deposit loose pills directly into the disposal box or submit the entire container.

Intravenous solutions, injectables, syringes or medical waste will not be accepted.
