Several races were extremely competitive; Nance wins four events.
Greg Nance once again won four events, while Riley Meidell, Chance Quinlan, Carlo Ruggiero, Ian Matthews and Soren Ferguson all won three times at Monday’s All-Comers track meet.
The meet also featured exceptionally competitive distance races, with six entrants dipping under two minutes, 16 seconds in the 800 meters and five minutes in the 1600 meters.
Nearly 200 entrants took advantage of ideal weather conditions.
Event coordinator Jim Whiting also reported that a camera crew from KING-TV was there to do a piece on the event. It will run on the 5 p.m. edition of KING News this Friday.
The series continues through August 27 at the high school track.

Tennis team makes finals
The Bainbridge Athletic Club tennis team reached the finals of the 2007 USTA Adult League Pacific Northwest Section Tennis Championships in Portland, Ore. last weekend.
64 teams competed in various locations in the Portland area, such as the Mountain Park Racquet Club, West Hills Racquet and Fitness Club, Tualatin Hills Tennis Center and the Sunset Athletic Club.
The adult women’s 3.0 tennis team defeated Tri-City Country Club 3-2 on the first day, then beat Alaska Club-Anchorage 3-2 on the second day.
But in the finals, they lost to Valley Athletic Club of Olympia 5-0.
The team was made up of several players who competed in singles and doubles matches.
The BAC team made it to the sectional tournament by winning their league title.
The captain of the team was Susanne Furner.
BIYSC gives boot to bottle
The Bainbridge Island Youth Soccer Club is choosing a side on the debate between drinking tap versus bottled water.
The organization recently started a campaign to ask members to bring a refillable water bottle to games and practices and reduce their use of single use bottles.
BIYSC officials want to cut down on the litter of the bottles after their games and help the environment.
The decision comes at a time when the debate to drink from the tap or purchase bottled water at the store is growing larger.
Many restaurants around the country are choosing to serve tap water instead of making bottled water available.
Aquafina, the largest seller of bottled water, recently announced they get their water from public water sources instead of a special location.
San Francisco mayor Gavin Newsom signed an executive order last month preventing city departments from purchasing bottled water to save taxpayers’ money and help the environment.
In New York City, the government recently started a campaign to get people to drink from the tap rather than buy bottled water.
According to the flyer the BIYSC is giving out, the bottled water industry is now doing $100 billion dollars in business every year.
To make the bottles, 1.5 million barrels of oil are used annually, enough to fuel 100,000 cars for a year.
For every one million bottles of water that are manufactured and shipped to consumers, 18.2 tons of carbon dioxide emissions are pumped into the air.

Signups are still going on for the 11th annual Summer Golf Scramble tomorrow at Wing Point Golf and Country Club.
Per-player cost for the tournament is only $105 and includes cart, green fees, one qualifying attempt at the $25,000 putting contest, (a second qualifying putt will cost you $5), a chance at a hole-in-one valued at $20,000 and two other hole-in-one opportunities.
There will also be cash prizes of more than $3,000, a box lunch, a banquet dinner, raffle prizes, mulligans, a live auction with prizes and other surprises.
