The Puget Sound Energy Foundation is installing high-capacity generators at several locations across Kitsap and Whatcom counties.
These generators are being installed in locations that can serve as emergency shelters or warming centers in a disaster scenario such as an earthquake.
The foundation has awarded the generators to nonprofit organizations in the Puget Sound Energy service area to specifically help those in low income or vulnerable situations. The Island Church on Bainbridge Island will be the site of one of these generators, and PSE will be holding a dedication ceremony at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 24.
