Wallace E. Nelson, an artist and Silverdale resident, passed away Jan. 11, 2017.
Born to Martin and Alma Nelson in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, on July 6, 1924, he went home to Jesus with his wife of 62 years, Kathleen, at his side. He was 92.
A World War II combat Marine in the South Pacific, he had a long career in graphics and display design in Chicago and at Boeing.
Postwar, he and a buddy built and flew gliders for fun and he and Kathleen sailed the T-bird he built. They loved white water rafting, sailing the Pacific and Caribbean and remodeling homes in Bainbridge, Kingston, West Seattle and East Bremerton. The couple lived on Bainbridge Island for 30 years.
A celebration of his life was held at Liberty Bay Presbyterian Church in Poulsbo. Donations may be made to the church Missions Fund.
