BREMERTON – Kitsap County’s Division of Aging and Long-Term Care, in cooperation with the Long Term Care Alliance, will present the 26th annual 2017 Older Americans Conference from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 10 at Grace Point Church, 8278 Highway 303, Bremerton.

The doors open at 8 a.m. and complimentary refreshments will be served.

The conference theme is “The Magic of Aging: Age Out Loud.” Topics include “Introduction to Palliative Care”; “Communication Across Generations”; “The Alphabet Soup of Medicare”; “Recognizing Depression and Anxiety in Older Persons”; and “Medication Management Strategies.”

The month of May is Older Americans Month, an annual observance that recognizes and honors the contributions of the nation’s past and present seniors — in particular, those who have served in the military. Older Americans Month originated in 1963 when President John F. Kennedy and the members of the National Council of Senior Citizens designated May as Senior Citizens Month, a prelude to Older Americans Month.
