The performance will take place at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 10 at Rolling Bay Hall (10598 Valley Road).

The suggested donation is $10 a person.

Kids in Concert is a music initiative, based on the El Sistema program in Venezuela that started over 38 years ago.

The program began on Bainbridge Island just over three years ago, working with children at the Boys & Girls Club. Two years ago, the program moved to Suquamish and offered introductory music and improvisation classes at the Early Childhood Education Center.

This past year, KIC moved its program to Rolling Bay Hall and began the process of creating a string orchestra with the children.

With the assistance of the Suquamish Tribe, 14 children are bussed to Rolling Bay Hall three times a week for violin lessons.
