U.S. Representative Derek Kilmer (D-WA) said he would fight President Trump’s 2018 budget proposal, and noted he’s heard no support for cutting funding that provides for seniors and families in need.
Kilmer, vice ranking member for the House Appropriations Committee and Washington’s 6th District congressman, released the following statement after President Trump officially released his Fiscal Year 2018 budget proposal:
“I meet with hundreds of businesses and community groups every year, and I have never had a single one tell me that Congress should pass a budget that eliminates meals for seniors or guts food stamps for families in need.
“Folks in our region want better roads and schools, more middle class jobs, and a brighter future for their kids.
“That’s why I’ll be working to oppose this proposal and instead pass a budget that reflects our values, and creates more opportunity for every American to compete in today’s economy,” Kilmer said.
