THURSDAY, MAY 25

1:08 p.m. A 42-year-old Bainbridge Island man was arrested for an outstanding warrant, after being stopped and identified by police for speeding in the school zone at High School Road and Grow Avenue.

The man admitted, when stopped, that his license was suspended. He told police there were no current warrants out for his arrest, which proved to be untrue.

He was arrested and booked without incident; the vehicle was released to his girlfriend.

1:50 p.m. A Honda boat motor was reported stolen by a Northeast Hidden Cove Road resident.

The motor had been kept in a vacant chicken coop, which was not locked, but instead secured only by a “garden stake where one would put a padlock on the door.”

The coop is adjacent to a public road and stairs to the beach, separated by a wire fence.

“We have a cordial relationship with the public and are happy to have people come and see the beach,” the islander said. “We have no idea who has done this.”

2:46 p.m. An island resident asked police to patrol Pritchard Park Beach more regularly, especially the beach itself and the area near the water. The woman said she is cleaning up trash from the beach, including liquor bottles and drug paraphernalia, on an almost daily basis.
