The Bainbridge Spartans lost 33-26 to the Olympic Trojans in boys prep football Friday at Silverdale Stadium.
The non-conference loss put the Spartans at 0-2, while the Trojans improved to 1-1.
Olympic went up 7-0 in the first quarter after Malcolm Dewalt punched in the Trojans’ first touchdown from 10 yards out. (Josh Kennedy connected on the point-after kick.)
The Trojans marched to a 21-0 lead in the second quarter, courtesy of a 31-yard touchdown run by Dewalt and a 53-yard fumble return by Darrian Carrier.
The Spartans scored their sole touchdown in the first half on a 22-yard run by Max McLeod.
Olympic tacked on another 12 points in the third quarter while holding the Spartans scoreless; a 3-yard run by Mason Quitevis and a 30-yard rushing score by Darelle White.
The fourth quarter was all Spartans, with Gannon Winker grinding into the end zone on 8- and 1-yard runs.
Bainbridge High went for the two-point conversion both times following the touchdowns, but came up short, to put the score at 33-18.
Winker tossed a 25-yard touchdown pass to Jonah Giblin for the game’s final score.
The Trojans ended the night with 356 total yards (321 rushing, 35 passing) while the Spartans finished with 253 (152 rushing, 101 passing).
Giblin had two receptions for 40 yards with one touchdown.
Jacob Hogger had 68 yards on five carries. Kyle Bierly had 47 yards on four carries; he also ended the evening with nine tackles, one assist, one sack and one tackle for a loss. Nate Michaels had seven tackles and four assists, while Hogger ended with six tackles and four assists.
