With the horrific shooting in Las Vegas last week, cartoonists across the country turned their attention from one tragedy — the presidency of Donald J. Trump — to another; the senseless mass shooting that left more than 50 concertgoers on the Vegas strip dead.
And so, Week 37 of Trump in the White House went by with the president largely absent from the headlines, with the fleeting exceptions of the resignation of cabinet member Tom Price after the charter jet scandal, the Trump tax cut plan, and the ongoing desperation in Puerto Rico following Hurricane Maria.
