Voters are fortunate to have Matthew Tirman, a candidate for city council, District 3 for Bainbridge Island, on the ballot.

It is rare — and refreshing — to find a candidate with his ability, enthusiasm and integrity. He wants smart growth for our island and his business background and attention to detail can get us there.

Matthew brings exceptional skills and experience to the position. He serves as chief commercial officer of a global big data analytics company. Previously, he grew a start-up technology firm to a global enterprise with more than 400 employees. He has as advisor to the nation’s military and diplomatic operations as well as to private investment firms. In his spare time, he has championed candidates and causes in favor of sustainability and the environment.

Matthew will apply his decades of leadership, decision-making and problem solving to Bainbridge Island by:

• Working for affordable options including housing and transportation for individuals wanting to live and work on the island.

• Prioritizing limited resources to address critical needs like human services, housing, education and grants to nonprofits.

• Communicating with voters and stakeholders — from holding open meetings to publishing/ posting each council member’s position on the issues.

A husband and father of four, Matthew Tirman is running because he loves the island and wants to do his part to ensure a safe, healthy, and sustainable future here. He is accessible and ready to serve and, with our votes, will make a wonderful leader.
