The largest art to-do on the island is slated to stage a triumphant return again this year, from Friday, Dec. 1 through Sunday, Dec. 3, as the winter session of the beloved Bainbridge Island Studio Tour again fills creative enclaves from Winslow to Agate Pass.

The so-called “heart of local art” is bountiful as ever this year — boasting the works of 56 artists throughout seven separate studios. Wares on display for this, the 34th winter tour, run the gamut of mediums, from fiber and glass, to metal and mosaics, to paintings, photography, sculpture, wood and more.

The twice-annual free tour is self-guided, and all locations will be open, with artists on hand to discuss their work, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Festive decorations, hot cider and tasty treats will abound, along with awesome art.

As guests visit the studios, they’ll even see some works in progress, raw materials and tools, and get the chance to get to know the minds behind their favorite pieces.

The locations for this year’s tour are:

• The American Legion Hall (7880 NE Bucklin Hill Road);

• The Filipino American Hall (7566 NE High School Road);

• The Masonic Lodge (1299 Grow Ave. NW);

• Sylvia Carlton’s Studio (1245 Grow Ave. NW);

• Bainbridge Island Grange Hall (10340 Madison Ave. NE);

• Siebert Pottery Studio (9766 NE Valley Road); and

• Hidden Cove Pottery & Tile (7176 NE Hidden Cove Road).

Visitors are encouraged to carpool, as parking is often limited at each studio and tends to fill up quickly.

“Each artist has been juried, so the studio tour is known for high quality hand-crafted artwork” said tour manager Dinah Satterwhite.

“There is a nice variety of art mediums like mixed media, pottery, paintings, jewelry, fiber, furniture, glass, encaustic, photography and wearables,” she said.

“Each studio will be festively adorned for the holiday season. So grab a butter cookie and hot apple cider while you shop for original hand-made gifts made by your favorite regional artists.”

Especially worthy of note, Satterwhite said, are several new artists joining the tour, including Andrew Bergh (from Bainbridge, photography), Tiffany Noel Thiele, (from Bainbridge, fused glass work), Anthony Piazza (from Bainbridge, woodworking), Erik Newquist (from Nordland, forged iron) and Bob Rau (from Poulsbo, cigar box guitars).
