Steven Albergine, a sophomore at Bainbridge High School, has achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank in the Boy Scouts. He was formally presented the Eagle Scout award at a Court of Honor ceremony at Yeomalt Lodge on Saturday, Dec. 2.

The accomplishment represents four years of adventure, fun, work, friendship and dedication to the Boy Scout program for Albergine, 16, who has been a member of Bainbridge Island Troop 1496 since 2013.

During the process of satisfying the requirements for the Eagle rank, he performed several hundred hours of community service, provided service and leadership for his troop, and is currently serving as the troop’s Senior Patrol Leader.

In addition to the traditional outdoor and civic leadership skills practiced in Boy Scouts, he has so far earned more 50 merit badges, spent more than 125 nights camping, backpacked more than 200 miles, and enjoyed the scouting High Adventure programs at Florida Seabase and at Philmont in New Mexico.

His Eagle project was building a new sign for Troop 1496’s charter organization, the Bainbridge Island Masonic Center.

Steven is the son of Masami Shimizu-Albergine and Dave Albergine.
