TRAVEL ADVISORY | One-hour wait for Bainbridge ferry

Attention drivers headed to Seattle: Your departure from Bainbridge Island may not be as speedy as you think.

Washington State Ferries is advising travelers on the Bainbridge Island-Seattle ferry route that there is an estimated one-hour wait for drivers at the Bainbridge ferry terminal.

The advisory was issued just after noon Wednesday, Dec. 27.

The delay is due to heavy vehicle traffic boarding Bainbridge ferries, according to WSF.

It’s been a tough week so far for people hoping to catch a ferry to Seattle.

A security alert at Colman Dock in Seattle Tuesday prompted late ferries throughout the day, and sailings between the island and the mainland did not get back on schedule until after 7 p.m. Dec. 26.

Traffic on Highway 305 across the island was also jammed in the afternoon, and at one point, vehicles waiting for the ferry stretched from downtown Winslow to High School Road.
